Our Foundation Purpose

In the summer of 2012, the Miramar-Pembroke Pines (FL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. established Kappa Alpha Psi MPPAC Foundation for the purpose of improving the quality of life for those residing in Southwest Broward County, Florida and surrounding through charitable donation, youth mentorship, educational scholarship, feeding and clothing initiatives as well as hands-on community involvement.

Annually, the foundation awards a minimum of $15,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors, funds a multi-state college tour for young men in the Guide Right Mentorship Program, makes sizeable donations to St Jude’s Research Hospital, volunteers over 640 man hours with Feeding South Florida, donates over 700 backpacks and supplies to students, provides travel assistance for patients registered with the American Cancer Society; in addition to a host of other community enriching initiatives.

MPPAC Foundation Inc. 2025 Scholarship Application Information

The Miramar-Pembroke Pines Alumni Chapter Foundation (herein : MPPAC) of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. establishes these eligibility requirements and criteria for monetary Awards and Recognition to graduating seniors of the Kappa League (herein: KL) of MPPAC as well as a deserving senior from a Public or Charter school within the MPPAC service area of South Broward.

Scholarships Available:

Reginald D. Martin Award, Leadership Scholarship Award (Multiple), Achievement Scholarship Award (Multiple), Guide Right Scholarship Award (Multiple), Red Carnation Scholarship Award, Shelton HBCU Scholarship Award, Donaldson Financial Scholarship Award, Platinum Medical Center, Inc, Health Opportunity Scholarship (Two Annually).

The Reginald D. Martin Scholarship Award (One) $6,000

  • Active member of the MPPAC KL for a minimum of 3 school years.
  • Must have an aggregate GPA of 3.75 or above the semester of graduation.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 80 hours of Community Service.
  • Must have a Letter of Recommendation from High School Administrator or Teacher on letterhead.
  • Must have a Letter of Recommendation from Community/Business, Church or City Leader. 
  • Must have been accepted at one or more colleges or universities.
  • Have participated in 75% of KL meetings, fundraisers and activities.
  • Must write an essay of 500 words on a selected topic provided to them at least 3 months prior to due date and read the essay at the KL graduation event.
  • Must have held a chapter officer’s position in the last 3 years.

The Leadership Scholarship Award ( Multiple) $1,500

  • Active member of the MPPAC KL for a minimum of 2 school years.
  • Must have an aggregate GPA of 3.25 or above in the semester of graduation.
  •  Must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of Community Service. 
  • Must have a Letter of Recommendation from High School Administrator or Teacher on letterhead.
  • Must have a Letter of Recommendation from Community/Business, Church or City Leader. 
  • Must have been accepted at one or more colleges or universities.
  • Have participated in 60% of KL meetings, fundraisers and activities.
  • Must have run for a chapter officer’s position and/or demonstrated leadership qualities over the last 2 years.
  • Must write an essay of 500 words on a selected topic provided to them at least 3 months prior to the due date and read the essay at the KL graduation event.

The Achievement Scholarship Award(s) (Multiple) $1000.00

  • Active member of the MPPAC KL for minimum of 2 school years.
  • Must have an aggregate GPA of 2.75 or above in the semester of graduation.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of Community Service.
  • Must have a Letter of Recommendation from High School Administrator or Teacher on letterhead.
  • Must have a Letter of Recommendation from Community/Business, Church or City Leader. 
  • Must have been accepted at one or more colleges or universities.
  • Have participated in 60% of KL meetings, fundraisers and activities.
  • Must have run for a chapter officer’s position and demonstrated leadership qualities over the last 2 years.
  • Must write an essay of 500 words on a selected topic provided to them at least 3 months prior to the due date.

The Guide Right Scholarship Award(s) (Multiple) $500

  • Active member of the MPPAC KL for minimum of 2 school years.
  • Must have an aggregate GPA of 2.5 or above in the semester of graduation.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of Community Service.
  • Must have a Letter of Recommendation from High School Administrator or on letterhead.
  • Have participated in 60% of KL meetings, fundraisers and activities. Teacher
  • Must have run for a chapter officer’s position and demonstrated leadership qualities over the last 2 years.

Must write an essay of 500 words on a selected topic provided to them at least 3 months before the due date.

The Red Carnation Scholarship Award $1,500

  • Must have an aggregate GPA of 2.75 or above in the semester of graduation.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of Community Service.
  • Must have a Letter of Recommendation from High School Administrator or Teacher on letterhead.
  • Must have a Letter of Recommendation from Community/Business, Church or City Leader. 
  • Must have been accepted at one or more colleges or universities.
  • Must write an essay of 500 words on a selected topic provided to them at least 3 months prior to the due date.

The Donaldson Financial Scholarship Award (One Annually) $1,000

  • Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating minority senior in South Broward County.
  • Must have an aggregate GPA of 3.25 or above in the semester of graduation.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of community service.
  • Must have a Letter of Recommendation from a High School Administrator or Teacher on letterhead.
  • Must have Letter of Recommendation from Community/Business, Church or City Leader.
  • Must have been accepted at one or more colleges or universities.
  • Must write an essay of 500 words, minimum, on one of the following topics below:
    • Explain how a person or particular class of people’s socioeconomic status impacts the field of finance and vice versa.
    • Name the most significant minority person to have progressed in the field of finance and why.
    • What area of finance do you plan to pursue, why, and how do you plan to utilize that skill to help the community.

The Shelton HBCU Scholarship Award $1,500

  • Must attend an HBCU.
  • Must have an aggregate GPA of 2.75 or above in the semester of graduation.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of Community Service.
  • Must have a Letter of Recommendation from High School Administrator or Teacher on letterhead.
  • Must have a Letter of Recommendation from Community/Business, Church or City Leader. 
  • Must have been accepted at one or more colleges or universities.
  • Must write an essay of 500 words on a selected topic provided to them at least 3 months prior to the due date.

In accordance with The Foundation by-laws, the 2023-2024 Board of Directors for the Miramar-Pembroke Pines (FL) Alumni Chapter Foundation is voted upon during the November MPPAC Foundation Meeting and installed in December annually.
