Chapter Founding

August 2006

Brother Reggie Martin, James Monroe, Keith James, W. Eugene Dixon and Kevin Love met and discussed the “Broward Project”. The chartering of a chapter for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., in South West Broward County, Florida.

It was determined that the increased growth in the area would support another chapter in the area.  The brothers determined based on personal information, that there were 20 members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. that among the four brothers knew who would be interested in chartering a chapter.  The following issues were discussed:

  • Why was a chapter needed in the area?
  • How would a chapter benefit the community?
  • Timeline of chartering a chapter.
  • Boundary of the chapter.
  • Contacting brothers who were not members of local chapters that would be interested in joining a new chapter in the area.
  • Name of the proposed chapter.
  • Committing brothers who are interested in joining the new chapter would commit $100.00 to join the chapter.

Brother Keith James contacted Province Polemarch Ronald Range regarding our request to charter a chapter in the area.

Chapter Chartered

September 2006

The “Broward Project” commenced its efforts towards establishing a chapter within the region with the aim of achieving charter status. It was decided that the chapter would be called – Miramar Pembroke Pines Alumni Chapter (MPPAC).

Boundary of chapter would be West to Hwy 27, North to State Road 84, East to A1A and South to County Line Rd.

The following brothers committed to joining the new chapter: Clyde Rucker, James Wynn II, Michael Douglas, Reggie Rucker, John Hill IV, Troy Maxey, Fred Rodgers, Lee Burns, Sam Ellis, Garrett Davis, Barry Adkins, Daryl Robinson, Winston Baker.

Chapter Petition

October 2006

The brothers of the “Broward Project” completed a petition to charter a chapter in Southwest Broward County,

The petition requested that we respond to questions meet the following requirements:

  • The Purpose and rationale for this petition for an alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc..
  • Provide names of each brother that has committed to join chapter, financial status, including housing assessment and reinstatement fee.
  • What are the name and approximate distance of the nearest Alumni Chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.?
  • Will the formation of your group disturb the membership rolls of an existing Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.?
  • Is there an Undergraduate Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. within a 30 miles radius of your community?
  • What are your plans to support an Undergraduate Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.?

Approved Petition

December 2006

Province Polemarch Ronald Range announced that the Grand Board of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. had approved our petition to charter a Chapter in Southwest Broward County, Florida to be called Miramar Pembroke Pines Alumni Chapter.

Charter Approved

January 6, 2007

The Miramar-Pembroke Pines (FL) Alumni Chapter (MPPAC) of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was chartered on January 6, 2007. The chapter’s Charter Members are as follows:
