Guide Right is a program of the educational and occupational guidance of youth, primarily inspirational and informative in character.

Kappa League is a subset of the Guide Right, our National Service Initiative. Kappa League is a program for the educational, occupational and social guidance of male students in grades 6th-12th.

Youth Development

The purposes of the Guide Right Service Program is to place the training experience and friendly interest of successful men at the disposal of youth needing inspiration and counsel regarding their choice of a life’s career, and to arouse the interest of the entire community in the problems of youth as they seek to realize lives of usefulness.

  • To Create the Next Generation of Leaders via Leadership Development.
  • Prepare students for college.
  • Mentor students to college graduation.
  • To positively impact youth through mentoring and training.
  • To prepare youth for academic success in middle school, high school and college.
  • To learn by interaction, doing and group dynamics.
  • STEM: Activities include getting involved with NSBE Jr, STE Career Fair, Utilize code.org for free programming training. Microsoft Retail stores offer free STEM training.
  • College Success: Mentoring for college. 90% Graduation Rate. Facilitate Undergrad/Alumni partnership for the mentoring College Prep Series Naviance, an online tool to assist students in preparing for college; Diamonds in the Rough webinars (DITR); FAFSA Awareness; College Signing Day, recognizing graduating high school seniors going to college.
  • Positive Video Reporting – KLTV: Creating positive video recordings of Guide Right achievements.

Mentoring & Community Service

The Miramar Pembroke Pines Alumni Chapter’s Kappa League is the mentoring program of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc, focused on mentoring young men in 6th through 12th grade.  We organize fundraisers, exciting community-building events, and in-depth sessions.

  • Be 12-18 years old
  • Demonstrate a desire to participate in the program and be willing to abide by Kappa League program rules
  • Be able to obtain parental/guardian permission and ongoing support for participation in the program
  • Agree to a one-year commitment to the program
  • Complete the screening procedure (application, interview and orientation)
  1. Self Identity/Purpose– Discipline, Assurance, Appearance
  2. Training– Study Skills, Time Management, Leadership, Organization
  3. Competition– Politics, Debate/Spoken Word, Sports
  4. Social– Religion, The Arts, Entertainment, Communication, Manners
  5. Health Education– Physical Fitness, Sex Education, Drugs, Health & Safety
  6. Economic Empowerment & Education– Stock Market, Fundamentals of Banking, Cash vs Credit
  7. College & Career– Academic Readiness, High School and Beyond, Career Day, College Admissions, Financial Aid Workshops, Survival Skills

Kappa League is a subset of the Guide Right, our National Service Initiative. Under the chairmanship of Mel Davis, the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter’s Social Action Program took the form of training activity for young men of the Alain Leroy Locke High School.
